Bento Rice are basically the Japanese Rice or can be defined as a preparation in terms of Japanese cuisine . Japanese rice refers to a number of short-grain cultivars of Japonica rice which are grown in Japan. The two main categories of Japanese rice are ordinary rice and glutinous rice.Rice is an important crop throughout Japan. Koshihikari is a particularly esteemed cultivar and one of the most highly grown in Japan and so is responsible for the cultivation of Bento Rice.

When cooked it has a somewhat sticky texture such that it can easily be picked up and eaten with chopsticks. Outside of Japan it is sometimes labeled as sushi rice, as this is one of its common uses. It is also used to produce sake.When cooked the rice turn up to be nice white in colour but feels very sticky while tasting . and are very soft to touch.
This is obviously from the rice family yet differ a lot when it is compared to Basmati Rice.

Personal Observation:-
After Having bento rice (Japanese rice) it give a different mouth feel all together, a very sticky one but the flavor of other ingredients overpowered and hides the disadvantages of this rice.Even after all this i would love to try it once again.But definitely has an all together different taste and texture as compared to the basmati rice preparations.
